Privacy Policy for Satellite Finder & Dish Align
Privacy Policy
Last Updated: May 31, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and handle your information when you use our mobile application, Satellite Finder & Tracker (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring your personal information is treated securely and in compliance with Google Play Store policies.
1. Information We Collect and Why
To provide our core utility services—such as satellite dish alignment, tracking, and augmented reality (AR) sky views—the App requires access to specific device features and sensors. Below is an exhaustive list of permissions requested by the App, along with their business/operational justifications:
📍 Location Data (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION & ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION)
• Purpose: To calculate the precise azimuth, elevation, and LNB skew/polarization angles of geostationary satellites relative to your physical location.
• How It's Handled: Your coordinates are processed entirely on your device locally in real-time. We do not transmit, sell, or store your location on external servers.
📷 Camera Access (CAMERA)
• Purpose: Powering the Augmented Reality (AR) / Sky View feature, which overlays satellite orbits, positions, and labels on top of your physical sky view.
• How It's Handled: The camera feed is processed in temporary memory strictly for rendering the live overlay. No video, images, or camera feeds are captured, recorded, or sent off the device.
🌐 Internet & Network Status (INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE)
• Purpose: Used to load interactive satellite tracking maps, download regional satellite orbit database updates (TLEs), and display advertising/analytics.
• How It's Handled: Data transfers occur via secure, encrypted protocols (HTTPS) to maintain connectivity and update internal configurations.
📳 Haptic Vibration (VIBRATE)
• Purpose: Provides tactical/haptic vibration feedback to notify you once your phone is aligned with the targeted satellite.
• How It's Handled: Local OS utility call only. No data is gathered.
2. No Personal Data Harvesting
We do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, physical address, or phone number. All operational data (such as calculations, local configuration settings, and saved satellites) is stored locally in the secure storage sandbox of your device.
3. Third-Party Services
To support ongoing development and free utility maintenance, we may work with third-party service providers that collect non-personally identifiable technical diagnostic and analytical data:
• Google Play Services: For core system stability and updates.
• Google AdMob: To show optional contextual, non-personalized advertising banner cards.
• Firebase Analytics / Crashlytics: To collect anonymous performance telemetry and crash logs to resolve bugs and performance bottlenecks.
4. Google Play Policy Compliance
We strictly comply with the Google Play Developer Distribution Agreement and Developer Program Policies, specifically concerning user data transparency, prominent disclosures, and consent controls regarding high-risk device capabilities (Location and Camera).
5. Data Security
Because your primary sensor and camera data remain on your device, we minimize the threat vector of database breaches. Where secure internet connections are utilized, industry-standard cryptographic TLS controls are enforced.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically. We advise you to review this page regularly for any modifications. Changes take effect immediately upon update.
